Cloud-Collaboration with Microsoft 365 & Wizdom Intranet
In the past, the main tool used for collaboration was email. Information was exchanged via shared drives and centrally stored documents could not be processed by several people at the same time. However, the way of collaboration is changing and email and file sharing quickly reached their limits as tools: Employees are also dynamically active as knowledge carriers and no longer act exclusively in rigid processes. Efficiency-enhancing changes and a simplification of collaboration were needed, and Zurich Airport wanted to enable modern, cross-device working methods at the same time.
Flughafen Zürich

Flughafen Zürich AG operates the most important traffic and meeting hub in Switzerland and employs around 1,700 people in four business areas. Zurich Airport is considered the best airport. Behind this achievement are some 27,000 employees who work with over 280 airport partners every day to ensure that every stay at Zurich Airport is a positive experience for passengers and visitors.

Cloud Collaboration With Microsoft 365
Based on Microsoft 365 and the Framework Wizdom, employees can create a new project or workgroup rooms in minutes and invite internal colleagues and external partners to join them in no time at all. This works not only from the internal desktop: Workspaces can also be created and people invited on the move and from a smartphone or tablet. The platform is an important step towards simplifying digital collaboration in the company.
Simply Collaborate
With the change from classic File Share to Microsoft 365 and SharePoint Online, collaboration on documents, in particular, becomes much easier. Documents are automatically versioned and saved, can be edited together and changes are immediately visible. Thanks to intelligently pre-structured workspaces, contributors quickly find their way around new projects and can focus on content rather than structure.
Partners Log in With Their Own Account
With just a few clicks, external partners can be invited with an e-mail address. This has the advantage that partners who already have their own Microsoft 365 account can use it to log in directly and need neither a new account nor a new password. In most cases, single sign-on means that no log-in data need to be entered at all. It couldn’t be simpler!
Automatically Created Collaborative Spaces
While cross-team collaboration takes place in projects and working groups, team-internal documents and information are stored in organizational unit containers. Since these containers are predefined by the organizational structure, they are also generated centrally and automatically from the currently valid hierarchy in SAP and restructured if necessary.
Simple – But Also Secure
With this project, Flughafen Zürich AG has taken the step into the Microsoft Cloud. Accordingly, the issue of security was also thoroughly examined. Thanks to the versatile security mechanisms of Azure and Microsoft 365, the numerous internal guidelines could be fulfilled. In particular, it was ensured that any access outside the company is secured via multi-factor authentication.
Working Hand-In-Hand and With an Agile Approach
The new solution was created in 1 3/4 years and was developed by 1stQuad with the agile Scrumban methodology and in very close cooperation with Zurich Airport. The implementation took place hand in hand with the team from Zurich Airport and in close consultation with representatives from all business areas.
More than just new functionality
The step from email and file sharing to cloud collaboration requires more than just the introduction of a new software solution. A fundamental rethinking of collaboration was necessary and together we developed guidelines and recommendations for efficient use. How should the collaboration in projects and workgroups take place? Which guidelines are sensible and necessary? After thorough preparation, the introduction and training are carried out step by step across all employees, and thus the company-wide changeover to the new way of working.
